After the Ministries of Word and the Sacraments, hospitality is one of the most important activities in the Church. Hospitality is not simply or primarily about serving cookies or meals at parish gatherings. Nor is hospitality the responsibility of only a few people. It involves everyone in one way or another—from those welcoming to those being assistied; from those serving to those being served. By experiencing true hospitality, parishioners and guests find a place of belonging and care among the members of the parish. Hospitality is part of our history as a parish. Looking forward, we want to further incorporate this vision of hospitality into everything we do.
The work of ushers is the oldest lay apostolate in the Catholic Church. The ushers of today have descended from a long line of people of God who have gone before them. During the time of Christ, the doorkeepers of the temple numbered in the hundreds and were the forerunners of today's ushers.
An usher helps parishioners to find seats, assist with the offertory collection and gift procession as well as supervise the safety and other needs of the congregation.
This apostolate is open to all parishioners 18 and older; men and women; senior citizen, parent and teenager. Ushers are friendly people who welcome all ages and nationalities. Their faith enables them to see Christ's presence in individuals and in the gathered community of believers. Ushers are honest and dependable. They can handle emergency situations with courage and composure. They carry a dignity about themselves, even when performing menial tasks.

Being a greeter involves more than just standing at the door and shaking people's hands as they enter the church. First Corinthians 12:28 refers to it as those who help fulfill the need of making those who come through the doors of St. Titus feel at home.
The responsibility of a greeter is to help all who come to worship feel joy, sincerity, importance, peace and comfort when they enter the doors of our church. Most of all, greeters help all to feel welcomed. This is essential to understand as a greeter, because the greeter is the first persons that visitors and parishioners see when they enter our church doors. Greeters should be committed to ensuring that each person is being served, their needs and concerns are met, and they feel the joy of the Lord upon entering St. Titus.
Greeter duties are to arrive at least 40 minutes to half-hour before Mass to greet, help parishioners and guest as they enter our church. At this time the greeter's reponsibilities will consist of being present only for holiday Masses. Those days are All Souls Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Pentecost, and as needed for parish special events.

"If everyone were holy and handsome, it would be easy to see Christ in everyone. But it was not Christ's way for Himself. Ask honestly what you would do when a beggar asked at your house for food. Would you give it on an old cracked plate, thinking that was good enough? Do you think that Martha and Mary thought that the old and chipped dish was good enough for their guest? It is not a duty to help Christ -- it is a privilege."

The Cassidy Social Committee plans and organizes social events for members of the parish throughout the year. The goal of these events is to provide an opportunity to meet with and enjoy each other's company, foster friendships, fellowships and community within the parish. Parish social events are generally intended to be financially self-supporting.
The committee meets occasionally to discuss, plan, and carry out these social events. Our goal is to offer several different types of gatherings throughout the year, so that we reach the various age groups and interest areas within the parish community. We are always looking for new ideas, so please contact us with your suggestions.
